Estimator in High Wycombe

An excellent opportunity has now arisen for an Estimator to join us in High Wycombe within our Optima Special Works team.

Working alongside our team of experienced Estimators you will be expected to deliver an exceptional service, building costs up from first principles, through to a full sales price.

Role

To take ownership of tender enquiries and provide an Optima service to our clients that reflects the best experience when working with Optima. To ensure that Optima Special Works (OSW) estimating enquiries are allocated, priced and prepared in a responsive and timely manner. To follow up all estimates with our clients and provide opportunities to secure orders.

Responsibilities

• Receive enquiries allocated by the Estimating Manager or Managing Director.
• Take off quantities where necessary from drawings.
• Scan in Bills of quantities where available.
• Send out enquiries for materials and sub-contract items.
• Receive and evaluate prices for materials and sub-contractors.
• Build up the price using either the estimating system or an Excel spreadsheet.
• Liaise with sales to ensure that any tender presentation is requested in adequate time.
• Attend sales meetings as required and chase up / follow through any priced projects as discussed in those sales meetings to either an order or a lost job.
• Calculate any preliminary costs using the Excel prelim spreadsheet.
• Present the price to the Estimating Manager or Managing Director for adjudication.
• Finalise any changes made and submit the price.
• Prepare a monthly schedule of prospects for submission to the Managing Director.
• Maintain and update the estimating register on a weekly basis at a minimum.

Person Specification

• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Good IT skills and proficient in Microsoft packages, specifically Excel.
• Experience using Estimating software would be beneficial.
• A minimum of 1 year estimating experience within the interior fit‑out industry and/or subcontracting background would be preferable.

Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5.30pm

Candidates should live within 1 hour commuting distance to High Wycombe, Head Office.
