Our client is an established MEP contractor with over 100 years of experience delivering projects across London and the South of England. Operating from multiple offices, the business employs approximately 130 staff and generates an annual turnover of circa £25 million. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are expanding their project delivery team.
Role Overview
The Electrical Project Manager will manage all electrical aspects of multiple projects simultaneously, typically overseeing 2–3 live commercial projects with values up to £2 million. Sectors include offices, healthcare, higher education, and museums. The role covers full lifecycle project management from contract award through to handover, ensuring compliance, quality, and commercial performance, while maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage electrical projects from contract award through to completion and handover
- Oversee 2–3 concurrent projects, including Site Supervisors, Site Managers, and subcontract labour
- Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and welfare standards across all sites
- Review and audit design information to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Oversee commissioning processes and ensure installations meet required standards
- Manage procurement of materials and subcontract packages
- Maintain detailed project records including quality control, testing, commissioning, and maintenance documentation
- Work closely with the commercial team to monitor progress and ensure contractual compliance
- Prepare, manage, and submit variations and associated applications
- Attend and contribute to site and project meetings
- Oversee preparation of operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals
- Provide technical support and guidance to project teams
- Manage variation costings alongside the Quantity Surveyor and main contractor
- Lead project handover and aftercare processes
- Split time between site locations and office
- Report directly to the Operations Director
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience as an Electrical Project Manager
- Proven track record delivering commercial electrical projects up to £2 million
- Valid Black CSCS Card (Manager level)
- SSSTS or SMSTS qualification required
- HND or HNC in Electrical Engineering or Building Services advantageous
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Desirable
- Experience across sectors such as healthcare, education, or heritage projects
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of contract management
- Experience working within established MEP contractors
