Role Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Senior Engineer to support its Technical Services department. The Mechanical Senior Engineer will provide technical and design support throughout project development and delivery, from initial briefing through to detailed design, construction, testing and commissioning. The role will also involve client liaison, technical assessments, design reviews and appraisals of existing buildings. The successful candidate will be based primarily between the company's South East London offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with clients to develop relationships and provide support in achieving trusted advisor status
  • Assist with the assessment of new works and the preparation of fee submissions
  • Provide technical support to the wider delivery business through the Stage 5 development of working drawings
  • Undertake the technical review and approval of technical submittals to ensure they remain aligned with the Stage 4 design intent and the company's CPD responsibilities
  • Develop and produce all necessary mechanical calculations and design solutions from the briefing stage through to the detailed design stage
  • Monitor and assist with construction works as they progress on site, ensuring compliance with the high‑quality standards set by the business
  • Lead and manage key testing and commissioning activities, including ISTs and Black Building Tests
  • Undertake technical appraisals of existing buildings to develop short- and long‑term development strategies
  • Carry out Energy Performance Assessments
  • Undertake load and capacity reviews
  • Produce Life Cycle Replacement Reports
  • Conduct Single Point of Failure Analysis (SPOF)
  • Undertake resiliency reviews

Requirements

  • An experienced Senior Engineer capable of providing technical, mechanical design and project delivery support within a Technical Services department
  • Ability to develop mechanical calculations and design solutions from the briefing stage through to detailed design
  • Ability to review working drawings and technical submittals against Stage 4 design intent and CPD responsibilities
  • Ability to monitor construction works for compliance and adherence to the quality standards set by the business
  • Ability to lead key testing and commissioning activities, including ISTs and Black Building Tests
  • Ability to undertake technical appraisals of existing buildings and develop short- and long‑term development strategies
  • Ability to work primarily between the company's South East London offices
