Role Overview
The Industry Skills Tutor – Building Services will manage a caseload of apprentices within the electrical and building services sector, based at the Willesden Campus. The role focuses on monitoring learner attendance, progression, achievement, and completion, while coordinating with apprentices, employers, and internal teams to resolve issues that may affect successful programme outcomes. The post holder will ensure apprentices achieve in line with apprenticeship standards or frameworks, college targets, and quality assurance requirements, while maintaining accurate records in accordance with college procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of apprentices, monitoring attendance, progression, achievement, and completion
- Organise and coordinate pastoral support for apprentices as required
- Work collaboratively with apprentices, employers, and internal stakeholders to resolve issues impacting successful programme completion
- Coordinate achievement of all aspects of apprenticeship standards or frameworks, including quality assurance where appropriate
- Ensure learners achieve on time and in line with college performance targets
- Develop individual action plans for apprentices, including setting SMART targets tailored to individual needs
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date learner records in line with college requirements
- Attend the Willesden Campus and external venues as required by the role
Requirements
- Relevant vocational qualification at or above Level 3
- Assessor award and IQA award
- Experience within the Electrical industry
- Up-to-date industrial and subject knowledge within Building Services
- Knowledge of the Building Services industry and associated employment opportunities
- Knowledge of Ofsted requirements and apprenticeship and AEB funding
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage and prioritise workloads
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team to ensure quality provision and successful learner outcomes
- Commitment to delivering excellent customer service with a problem-solving approach for apprentices, employers, and stakeholders
