Role Overview
The Lecturer / Tutor - Carpentry will deliver and develop high-quality teaching across carpentry programmes, supporting learners to achieve their educational and vocational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver carpentry teaching across full-time and part-time programmes
- Develop and maintain Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) following initial assessment
- Monitor learner progress, achievement, and attendance
- Assess learner work and provide academic and vocational guidance
- Contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance, and course improvement
- Support learner welfare, progression, and retention
- Act as an assessor in line with awarding body and centre requirements
- Attend programme, team, and review meetings as required
- Deliver 1:1 and group tutorials; Maintain up-to-date ILPs; Support assessment boards and course team meetings
Requirements
Essential
- Relevant carpentry qualification or equivalent, with teaching or training experience
- Recognised teaching qualification or willingness to achieve FE teaching qualifications
- Up-to-date carpentry industry knowledge
- Strong communication, organisation, and learner management skills
- Commitment to equality, safeguarding, and inclusive practice
Desirable
- Degree or postgraduate teaching qualification
- Experience of course or programme management
- CPD linked to teaching or carpentry practice
