We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to take responsibility for the successful delivery of electrical fit-out and construction projects from handover through to completion. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of project delivery, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, commercially, and to a high professional standard.

This role requires a proactive individual who can manage site operations, client relationships, subcontractors, procurement activities, project programmes, commercial matters, reporting, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle. The position is ideally suited to someone who is organised, commercially focused, technically capable, and confident when working with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Delivery
    • Take ownership of assigned projects from initial handover through to practical completion and final account settlement.
    • Review project information received from estimating, design, procurement, and commercial teams.
    • Gain a full understanding of project scope, budgets, programmes, risks, exclusions, and client requirements.
    • Plan and coordinate labour, subcontractors, suppliers, and site resources.
    • Ensure installations are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications, industry standards, and client expectations.
    • Monitor project progress and manage programme performance.
    • Attend and lead project meetings where required.
    • Identify project risks and implement mitigation measures.
    • Ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.
  • Commercial Management
    • Maintain awareness of project budgets and financial performance.
    • Monitor labour, material, subcontractor, and site costs.
    • Manage variations, change control procedures, and commercial records.
    • Ensure additional works are identified, priced, agreed, and instructed appropriately.
    • Review project profitability on a regular basis.
    • Identify and address potential cost overruns promptly.
    • Assist with final account preparation and agreement.
    • Maintain accurate records to support commercial recovery and entitlement.
  • Client and Stakeholder Management
    • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned projects.
    • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and site teams.
    • Provide regular project updates and progress reports.
    • Respond professionally and promptly to client communications.
    • Manage expectations and resolve issues effectively.
    • Escalate concerns with proposed solutions where necessary.
    • Represent the business in a professional and commercially aware manner.
  • Project Reporting and Administration
    • Produce and issue weekly project reports.
    • Maintain organised and accurate project records.
    • Ensure project documentation is controlled and stored correctly.
    • Manage project trackers including RFIs, variations, procurement schedules, technical submissions, labour records, and programme updates.
    • Ensure information remains current and accessible to project stakeholders.
    • Work closely with document control and commercial teams to maintain compliance and reporting standards.
    • Provide regular updates to senior management.
  • Technical Responsibilities
    • Review and understand project drawings, specifications, and design information.
    • Demonstrate knowledge of electrical systems including lighting, power, containment, distribution, emergency lighting, and associated interfaces.
    • Identify design issues, clashes, and technical risks.
    • Coordinate technical information between design teams, site teams, and subcontractors.
    • Manage technical submissions and approval processes.
    • Ensure installations comply with approved designs and specifications.
    • Support testing, commissioning, certification, and project handover activities.
  • Procurement and Materials Management
    • Review procurement requirements during project mobilisation.
    • Identify long-lead items and critical procurement activities.
    • Coordinate material ordering and supplier engagement.
    • Ensure procurement activities align with project programmes.
    • Manage specialist equipment and package procurement where required.
    • Maintain effective communication with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery.
  • Health, Safety and Quality
    • Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture on all projects.
    • Support the preparation and review of RAMS and site-specific safety documentation.
    • Ensure operatives and subcontractors comply with site and company procedures.
    • Monitor workmanship standards and address quality issues promptly.
    • Support quality inspections and snagging processes.
    • Ensure testing, certification, and handover documentation are completed accurately and on time.
Required Experience
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in an Electrical Project Manager or similar project delivery role.
  • Proven experience delivering electrical projects within commercial fit-out, refurbishment, or construction sectors.
  • Strong technical understanding of electrical building services installations.
  • Experience managing direct labour, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Good understanding of project budgets, variations, and commercial management.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and construction programmes.
  • Experience liaising with clients, contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and perform effectively under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Electrical trade background or relevant engineering qualification.
  • SMSTS certification.
  • ECS or CSCS card.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
  • Knowledge of testing and inspection processes.
  • Experience using project management software, document control systems, and reporting platforms.

Reporting Structure

The Electrical Project Manager will report directly to the Projects Director and work closely with commercial, design, procurement, document control, site management, subcontractors, clients, and contractors.
