An experienced Civils Site Manager is required to support the delivery of high-voltage electricity transmission and renewable energy infrastructure projects across the United Kingdom.
This role will be responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant management of site activities on projects ranging from 66kV to 400kV, including substations and transmission infrastructure works for regulated and private-sector clients.
The successful candidate will take full ownership of site operations from mobilisation through to project completion, acting as the primary point of contact on site and ensuring delivery in line with programme, budget and quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage day-to-day site operations, including direct labour, subcontractors and plant.
- Plan, coordinate and supervise all civil construction activities on site.
- Develop, implement and maintain construction phase plans, risk assessments, method statements and quality documentation.
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation and company standards.
- Monitor progress against agreed programmes and budgets, providing regular updates to project management teams.
- Manage site logistics, resources and materials to ensure efficient delivery.
- Liaise effectively with clients, stakeholders, supply chain partners and internal teams.
- Promote a strong safety culture and drive continuous improvement across site activities.
- Support commissioning, testing and final handover activities.
- Proven experience delivering electricity transmission or substation projects within the 66kVβ400kV range.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts.
- In-depth understanding of UK HSE legislation and best practice.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex site operations and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organisational, planning and reporting skills.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capability.
- Qualification in Civil Construction Engineering or a related discipline.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide.
- National Grid TP137 / SR163 authorisation (current or previous).
- SMSTS.
- HSG47.
- Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS).
- First Aid.
- National Grid NSI 8.
