The Opportunity
We are working with an established and growing building technologies contractor who is looking to appoint an experienced BMS & Smart Building Systems Project Manager to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Project Manager with experience delivering BMS, energy management and integrated building technology projects.
The successful candidate will take ownership of projects from initial design and procurement through to installation, commissioning and final handover, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to a high technical standard.
You'll work closely with clients, consultants, main contractors, M&E teams and specialist subcontractors to deliver modern, efficient and fully integrated building solutions.
The Role
As Project Manager, you will oversee the successful delivery of multiple building technology projects, covering BMS, EMS, smart building integration and associated network infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing projects from design and planning through to installation, commissioning and handover.
- Overseeing BMS installations, including HVAC controls, control panels, field devices, graphics and system integration.
- Coordinating energy management systems, metering installations and energy monitoring solutions.
- Managing smart building technologies, including lighting controls, environmental sensors, IoT devices and integrated building platforms.
- Overseeing structured cabling installations, including copper, fibre-optic and associated network infrastructure.
- Developing and maintaining project programmes, procurement schedules and resource plans.
- Managing project budgets, variations, subcontractors and commercial performance.
- Coordinating engineers, installation teams and specialist subcontractors on site.
- Working closely with clients, consultants and other trades to resolve technical and programme issues.
- Ensuring all installations meet relevant quality, technical and health & safety standards.
- Managing testing, commissioning, snagging and final project handover.
What We're Looking For
We are particularly interested in speaking with Project Managers who have a strong background in BMS, building controls or smart building systems integration.
Ideally, you will have:
- Proven experience managing BMS or building controls projects.
- A good technical understanding of HVAC controls, BMS installations and building services integration.
- Experience with energy management systems, smart building technologies or integrated building solutions.
- Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus and associated communication protocols.
- An understanding of structured cabling, IP networks and fibre-optic infrastructure.
- Experience managing subcontractors, engineers, project programmes and budgets.
- The ability to interpret technical drawings, control schematics and specifications.
- Strong commercial awareness and the confidence to manage projects independently.
- Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
Experience working with multiple building systems and delivering integrated technology packages would be particularly advantageous.
