The Role
An opportunity for an experienced Energy Modelling Specialist with strong technical expertise in IES VE to join a growing team. This role focuses on delivering high-quality modelling outputs across a range of commercial projects, with a strong emphasis on real project delivery rather than theoretical exposure. You will support BREEAM and NABERS UK assessments, EPC compliance, and broader building performance analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver dynamic thermal modelling (DSM) using IES VE
- Conduct TM52 overheating assessments
- Carry out TM54 operational energy modelling
- Produce non-domestic EPCs and BRUKL reports
- Undertake passive design analysis
- Perform Part L compliance modelling
- Support Low and Zero Carbon (LZC) feasibility studies
- Contribute to BREEAM energy credits, including:
- ENE 01 (energy performance)
- ENE 04 (LZC technologies and passive design)
- HEA 01 (daylighting)
- Interpret modelling outputs and produce clear, client-facing reports
- Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, and contractors to inform design decisions
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines independently
Essential Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with IES VE (ApacheSim essential)
- Proven delivery of:
- TM52 overheating analysis
- TM54 energy modelling
- Non-domestic EPCs (DSM-based, not just SBEM)
- Solid understanding of:
- UK Building Regulations Part L
- Dynamic simulation modelling (e.g. CIBSE AM11)
- BREEAM (RFO and New Construction)
- Demonstrable experience contributing to BREEAM energy credits (minimum ENE 01)
- Ability to independently produce high-quality technical reports
- Strong communication skills, including explaining outputs to non-technical stakeholders
- Relevant degree (2:1 or above preferred)
