Our client is seeking an Assistant Editor to work on its flagship monthly publication and associated website, reports, directories and worldwide conference events. The role offers the possibility of regular international travel to conduct editorial assignments or attend/deliver industry events in the Europe, Middle East/Africa, Asia and the Americas.

  • Based in Dorking
  • £35,000 – £45,000 plus bonuses
  • Hybrid available following completion of training period (3 days in the office, 2 days wfh)
  • International travel
  • 42.5 hours per week

Job specification:

  • Reporting to the Managing Editor and work alongside an experienced editorial team to produce a monthly magazine, a range of respected business intelligence products, webinars and international conferences.
  • Editing and layout of articles for publication in print and online
  • Generating editorial ideas for features, interviews and online content
  • Managing the editorial and production process, including liaising with authors, and working to monthly deadline
  • Conducting industry research and writing country reports
  • Producing daily/weekly newsletters
  • Developing regular social media campaigns on LinkedIn
  • Project manage international conferences and webinar activities, including programme development, speaker acquisition and marketing
  • Represent magazine at international conferences

Person specification:

  • Educated to degree level (minimum 2:1)
  • Previous relevant publishing experience including proofreading, editing/layout and magazine production along with web publishing is essential
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, plus a good standard of numeracy
  • A background in conferences would be beneficial but not essential
  • An interest in global economic development, industry and technology will be an advantage
  • Strong organisational skills; ability to work to daily and monthly deadlines
  • Competent in Word, Excel and a range of publishing software (InDesign, Photoshop etc)
  • Proficiency with publishing software and digital platforms
  • Willingness to develop a deep understanding of a major global industrial sector
  • Ability to undertake international travel
