Job Description: We are currently seeking a Consultant Rheumatologist to join a dynamic and friendly team at one of our leading healthcare provider clients based in the East Midlands. The role offers the best of both worlds – cosmopolitan city life and stunning countryside, making it an ideal location for both professional growth and personal lifestyle. As a Consultant Rheumatologist, you will work closely with your colleagues to provide a comprehensive Rheumatology service to the surrounding areas, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses in Rheumatology. You will contribute to the ongoing success of the department, ensuring high standards of care for the patients in your charge, and will also take part in training junior staff and contributing to the professional development of the team. Responsibilities: * Provision of a comprehensive Rheumatology service in collaboration with Consultant colleagues, ensuring the highest clinical standards. * Responsibility for the ongoing care and treatment of patients in your care. * Cover for consultant colleagues during periods of leave, including patient care and junior doctor supervision. * Engage in clinical duties as outlined in your job plan, which includes designated time for teaching and participation in multidisciplinary teams (MDT). * Professional supervision and management of junior medical staff, carrying out teaching and accreditation duties. * Contribution to undergraduate and postgraduate education, including involvement with medical students and trainees. * Active participation in clinical governance and audit activities. Requirements: Qualifications (Essential) * MBBS/MBCH & MRCP or equivalent. * Full GMC Registration with a license to practice. * Entry on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of receiving Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). Experience: * At least 5 years of supervised training in an appropriate SpR equivalent training programme. * Comprehensive technical competence in Rheumatology. * Experience of audit management and a commitment to teaching undergraduates and postgraduates. Desirable: * Higher degree (MD/PhD) or postgraduate thesis. * Publications in peer-reviewed journals. Additional Information: * The role includes a flexible job plan, supporting a good work-life balance. * There is an opportunity to undertake SIFT funded teaching activities, remunerated in addition to the core job plan. * While primarily based in one location, there may be a requirement to work across multiple sites as needed.
