Locum Best Interests Assessor (BIA) – Kent Area Pay: £300 per assessment Location: Medway and surrounding areas (mainly Kent) Contract: Locum / Pay-per-assessment About the Role: Optima Plus Recruitment is seeking an experienced Locum Best Interests Assessor (BIA) to undertake statutory face-to-face Best Interests Assessments. This flexible, pay-per-assessment role typically involves around 3 assessments per week. You will conduct important assessments to support safeguarding vulnerable adults under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS) framework, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and policies. Key Responsibilities: * Undertake complex Best Interests Assessments following statutory guidance. * Ensure assessments comply with Mental Capacity Act 2005, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards 2007, and relevant Codes of Practice. * Work efficiently and independently while maintaining accurate records and clear reports. * Travel across Medway and Kent areas to complete assessments. Requirements: * Qualified BIA with a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience. * Completed BIA refresher training within the last 12 months. * Approved professional status as one of the following: * Approved Mental Health Professional * Registered Social Worker * First level nurse registered under Nursing and Midwifery Order 2001 * Registered Occupational Therapist * Ability to work independently and travel within the designated area.
