Role Summary:
The Occupational Health Physiotherapist plays a key role in assessing, treating, and supporting employees with musculoskeletal and physical health conditions to promote safe, effective, and sustainable return to work. The post holder will carry out face-to-face or virtual initial assessments and produce detailed, objective reports providing clear advice on fitness to work, functional capability, and recommended workplace adjustments. The role also involves delivering evidence-based physiotherapy treatment, conducting self-management support calls, and completing follow-up reviews to monitor progress and ensure optimal recovery outcomes. The role will provide the following services on a remote and F2F basis dependant on the contractual agreements; initial phone calls, supported self-management, functional restoration programmes, DSE & Workplace assessments and treatment.
The role will require you to provide occupational health services to an e-commerce company twice per week (between Monday β Thursday) at the clients site in Durham DH6. The onsite working hours will be 1pm-9pm. All other working days will be remote working 8:30-16:30. Due to the site location, the post holder must hold a driverβs license and have access to a vehicle.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate, detailed, and appropriate assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to employees on a remote or face-to-face basis.
- Identify, assess, and advise on any workplace hazards or contributing factors to Musculoskeletal disorders.
- Conduct workplace assessments such as DSE or work-based tasks as and when required and provide advice and recommendations as appropriate.
- Always maintain clinical objectivity and impartiality in line with occupational health guidance.
- Deliver effective evidence-based rehabilitation that adheres to national clinical standards.
- Utilise a bio-psychosocial approach combined with functional assessment to address barriers to work and inform robust work recommendations.
Experience, Skills, and Knowledge Required for the Role:
- Clinical Physiotherapy Qualification.
- Full Member of the CSP & Registered member of HCPC is essential.
- Minimum of 18 months experience post registration.
- Post-graduate training in Occupational Health/Ergonomics.
- Previous experience or an interest in Occupational Health Physiotherapy.
- Experience of providing functional assessment and fitness for work advice.
- Driver license & access to a vehicle.
