Location: Home based with travel within the North West region – dependent on business needs.

Salary: £36,000 per annum + benefits, rising to £38,000 after successful probation.

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full time – 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00 – 17:00.

Start Date: Monday 5th October 2026.

Role Summary

Optima Health is a leading provider of Occupational Health services. The Trainee Occupational Health Advisor (OHA) will develop broad experience across multiple industries while delivering clinical services remotely and, when necessary, at client sites. You'll be supported through a structured induction, training programme, a dedicated mentor and the Optima GROW programme. After 12 months and successful completion of GROW you can apply for business funding to pursue an Occupational Health Nursing qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Work remotely as part of the OH team, supporting employees and collaborating with the Occupational Health Physician and Clinical Performance Manager.
  • Take responsibility for day‑to‑day clinical delivery, including sickness absence case management, health surveillance, pre‑employment clearance, immunisation, needle‑stick advice and other contract‑specific duties.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date professional practice, evidence and OH law and deliver services in line with current best practice.
  • Collaborate with other agencies to promote health and well‑being, including infection control and risk management, and attend related meetings.
  • Contribute to the strategic development and implementation of the Occupational Health department's aims and objectives.
  • Maintain, manage and supervise confidential health records in line with company policy.
  • Implement and maintain relevant health surveillance programmes.
  • Work with the nurse manager to identify workforce ill‑health trends and present findings to customers where appropriate.
  • Pro‑actively participate in health promotion activities to empower employees and collaborate with outside agencies where appropriate.

Experience, Skills and Knowledge

  • Registered General Nurse, registered with the NMC.
  • Computer literate, experienced with Word, Excel, Outlook and an electronic health record system.
  • Good working knowledge of health and safety legislation.
  • Experience delivering care using a biopsychosocial assessment model.
  • Strong oral and report‑writing skills.
  • Experience in Occupational Health, Practice Nursing, Community Nursing, Functional Assessment, or Disability Analysis is highly regarded but applicants from other nursing specialities who wish to transition to Occupational Health are also encouraged to apply.
