Supply Chain & Inventory Manager | Nelson | £45,000 - £50,000 If you walked into an engineering stores function where the physical stock and the MRP system didnt quite agree, would you know how to fix it?

If so, theres genuine scope to come in, take ownership and make measurable improvements here.

What youll be doing This role covers supply chain, inventory, stores and procurement from day one, with the immediate priority being getting inventory management where it needs to be.

The MRP system is established, but the processes need modernising and adapting.

Youll take ownership of: Improving inventory accuracy and getting MRP data up to date Reviewing how stock is received, stored, located, counted and issued Implementing robust stock control, cycle counting and stores processes Managing purchasing and procurement of engineering components, steel, materials and consumables Working with suppliers to improve performance, availability and cost Managing the stores team and introducing clear processes and KPIs Identifying opportunities to improve and standardise supply chain processes that can be implemented across the wider engineering group.

This needs someone comfortable taking ownership and implementing improvements, rather than simply supervising the existing operation.

What youll need Inventory and stock management experience in engineering or manufacturing Hands-on experience using MRP systems to manage and improve inventory accuracy.

Progress Plus would be advantageous, but not essential.

Evidence of improving stores processes rather than simply maintaining them Purchasing/procurement experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.

CIPS would be beneficial but not fundamental.

Confidence dealing with suppliers and identifying commercial improvements The ability to identify problems, develop solutions and implement them Strong communication and organisational skills About the employer A long-established engineering manufacturer based in Nelson, designing and building specialist bespoke machinery for the food and bakery industry.
