Looking for an Electrical Project Engineer role where you’re involved in real engineering decisions — not just coordinating paperwork? This opportunity sits within a growing engineering services business delivering high-voltage and infrastructure projects across power and renewables, supporting major programmes in partnership with the end client and design teams.
You’ll act as a key technical interface between delivery, design (Arcadis), and the client — helping drive projects from design through to commissioning and energisation.
What you’ll be doing
- Taking responsibility for the technical delivery of electrical elements across projects, supporting design, installation, and commissioning phases.
- Acting as the technical interface between delivery teams, design consultants, and the end client.
- Reviewing and supporting design packages across electrical and power systems.
- Working closely with design teams (including Arcadis) to resolve technical queries and design issues.
- Supporting design development, including drawing updates and technical documentation.
- Assisting with preparation of design packages, tender inputs, and material take-offs.
- Managing RFIs and ensuring technical issues are resolved efficiently on live projects.
- Supporting procurement of electrical equipment and systems.
- Carrying out quality checks, inspections, and ensuring compliance with standards.
- Supporting commissioning, testing, and final project handover.
This is a hands-on engineering role — you’ll be expected to understand the systems, challenge designs where needed, and support solutions.
What you’ll need
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience within utilities, power, renewables, transmission, or infrastructure projects.
- Exposure to electrical distribution systems, HV/MV networks, or industrial electrical installations.
- Ability to interpret and work with electrical designs and technical documentation.
- Experience working alongside design teams or consultants on live projects.
- Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
You may have:
- Come through a hands-on electrical background (e.g. installation, commissioning).
- Or progressed from a graduate / junior project engineering route.
Either is fine — what matters is your ability to understand and support real-world electrical systems. Exposure to mechanical systems or multidisciplinary projects would be beneficial.
The role
- Based in Inverurie (Aberdeenshire).
- Supporting projects ranging from £1M to £40M+.
- Working across multiple smaller projects or larger complex schemes.
- Focused on technical delivery rather than full project management.
- Clear progression into senior engineering or project management roles.
Salary & package
The salary will range from £55,000 – £70,000 initially, depending on experience. Full package details available on request.
