Project & Manufacturing Planner | Nelson | £35,000 | Sugden Ltd

When projects fall behind, the problem usually started weeks earlier. Components not ordered, drawings still in progress, or the oversight of a potential delay.

Sugden Ltd, is part of the wider Baldwin Engineering Group who have experienced significant growth in recent years.

As a result, they need a key player to contribute to the coordinating activities across projects, manufacturing, procurement and stores.

What you'll be doing

You'll build a clear picture of what needs to happen, when it needs to happen and what could prevent it from happening.

You'll be responsible for

  • Building and maintaining project and manufacturing timelines
  • Creating and issuing manufacturing work orders
  • Keeping MRP information accurate and aligned with what's happening in production
  • Coordinating internal and subcontracted manufacturing, ensuring drawings, materials, and components are available when required.

But this isn't just about maintaining a plan. You'll be expected to look ahead, identify risks and give the wider team enough warning to do something about them.

That will include

  • Identifying material shortages, capacity issues, subcontractor delays and other risks
  • Supporting procurement to keep materials and components on schedule
  • Monitoring progress and highlighting where delivery dates could be affected
  • Improving planning processes, Excel reporting and communication between departments
  • What you'll need
  • Experience in production planning, project coordination or a similar role.

Ideally in a manufacturing or engineering environment.

  • Good knowledge of MRP systems and some exposure to purchasing/procurement
  • Strong Excel skills and excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to manage priorities, identify risks and confidently chase information

Experience reading engineering drawings, Progress Plus or a project/planning qualification would be useful but isn't essential.
