Opticore IT are currently searching for a Senior Network Engineer to join the core network team for a large Financial Services client, responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-grade network solutions with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This is a hybrid opportunity based 3 days on site in London.
What you’ll be doing:
- Design, implement, and operate GCP networking architectures, including VPC design, hybrid connectivity, and secure interconnects.
- Act as the technical authority for GCP networking, providing guidance, best practices, and design reviews to the wider network team.
- Support hybrid connectivity between on-premises data centres, GCP, Azure, and AWS environments.
- Design and manage: VPCs, subnets, routing, and firewall rules / Cloud VPN and Cloud Interconnect (Partner/Dedicated).
- Work closely with cloud, platform, and security teams to ensure network designs meet performance, resilience, and security requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues across cloud and on-prem environments, acting as escalation point where required.
- Contribute to network standards, reference architectures, and operational runbooks.
- Participate in design forums, change reviews, and incident/problem management activities.
- Provide informal mentoring and knowledge transfer to Azure and AWS-focused engineers.
What you’ll bring:
- Routing and switching concepts: BGP/OSPF.
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- GCP VPC architecture and design.
- VPC peering and Shared VPC.
- Cloud VPN (HA VPN).
- Cloud Interconnect.
- Firewall rules and network policies.
