The Role & Responsibilities
- CMM Operation: Operate CMM equipment, interpret measurement results, and verify reports via manual means when required.
- First Article Inspections: Complete and compile detailed First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
- Component Inspection: Perform rigorous manual and visual inspections of components.
- Compliance & Documentation: Control quality documentation, compile Certificates of Conformity (CoC), and maintain strict material traceability.
- Team Collaboration: Liaise daily with machine shop operatives and management regarding product conformity, while actively helping to set day-to-day priorities.
- Continuous Improvement: Aid in root-cause problem-solving activities to minimize workshop defects.
Essential Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of quality inspection experience in a subcontract precision machining environment.
- Manual Inspection: Expert proficiency using basic manual inspection equipment (micrometers, verniers, gauges, etc.).
- Reporting: Hands-on experience with First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
- Technical Literacy: Ability to accurately read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
- Soft Skills: A methodical mindset with strong attention to detail, exceptional timekeeping, and a desire to work as part of a collaborative team.
Advantageous (But Not Essential)
- CMM programming experience (ideally using Aberlink or PC-DMIS).
- Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Prior experience using Visual FAIR (Q-Pulse) software.
- Background working within AS9100 or ISO9001 certified quality management environments.
