We are looking for a skilled and creative WordPress Web Developer to join our team based in our Glasgow head office. Reporting directly to our Digital marketing Director, the ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of WordPress development, front-end design and back-end development, and experience in creating responsive, visually appealing, and user-friendly websites. This role involves both creating new sites and enhancing existing ones, ensuring they meet the highest standards of performance, security, and SEO.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, customise, and maintain WordPress websites according to design specifications and functionality requirements.
- Implement website designs into WordPress themes, plugins, and custom post types.
- Collaborate with designers, project managers, and other developers to bring concepts to life.
- Optimise websites for performance, SEO, and mobile responsiveness.
- Troubleshoot issues related to front-end code and plugins.
- Ensure that all websites are compatible across different browsers and devices.
- Conduct website testing and perform quality control checks.
- Implement website backup, security, and maintenance protocols.
- Stay up-to-date with new industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a WordPress Developer, with a strong portfolio of past projects.
- Proficiency in front-end languages, including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
- Strong PHP skills, especially with WordPress custom themes, plugins, and functions.
- Knowledge of SEO principles and best practices.
- Experience with responsive design and cross-browser compatibility.
- Familiarity with web performance optimization techniques.
- Understanding of security best practices in WordPress.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with popular page builders such as Elementor, WPBakery, or Beaver Builder.
- Experience with RESTful APIs and third-party integrations.
- Knowledge of version control systems, especially Git.
- Experience with WooCommerce and eCommerce website development.
- Understanding of UI/UX design principles.
