The Opportunity
We’re looking for a passionate and creative UX/UI Designer to join our digital team at our Glasgow head office. Reporting directly to the Digital Marketing Director, you’ll be responsible for designing intuitive, engaging, and visually impactful digital experiences across Optical Express websites and online platforms.
This is a hands‑on design role where you’ll shape the user journey from concept to final interface. You’ll work closely with marketing, development, and content teams to ensure every digital touchpoint is not only beautiful but purposeful — optimised for conversion, accessibility, and user satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of user interfaces and experiences across websites, landing pages, and digital platforms.
- Conduct user research and analyse behavioural data to inform design decisions.
- Develop wireframes, prototypes, and user flows that effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.
- Create polished, high‑fidelity UI designs aligned with Optical Express brand guidelines.
- Collaborate with developers to ensure accurate implementation of your designs.
- Conduct usability testing and gather feedback to refine and improve designs.
- Optimise designs for accessibility, performance, and conversion (CRO).
- Stay current with emerging UX/UI trends, tools, and best practices to continually evolve our digital presence.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience as a UX/UI Designer, Product Designer, or similar role, with a portfolio demonstrating strong design thinking and execution.
- Expertise in Figma, Adobe XD, or similar design/prototyping tools.
- Strong understanding of user‑centred design, information architecture, and interaction design.
- Ability to translate research insights and business goals into clear design strategies.
- Excellent visual design skills with attention to detail, typography, and layout.
- Understanding of responsive and adaptive design principles.
- Familiarity with front‑end concepts (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and how design decisions impact development.
- Experience working collaboratively with developers, marketers, and stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in conversion rate optimisation (CRO) and A/B testing.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG).
- Understanding of SEO and how design affects on‑page performance.
- Experience in healthcare, eCommerce, or service‑based industries.
- Familiarity with WordPress or other CMS platforms.
