Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Staff Grade Doctor to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will support our NHS medical glaucoma service, providing both clinical and surgical assistance. This is a part‑time role requiring 19 hours per week (2 days, Wednesdays and Fridays).

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, evaluate and manage patients with existing and undiagnosed glaucoma along with other ocular conditions.
  • Perform diagnostic tests and procedures such as visual field assessments, optical coherence tomography (OCT), volk, CCT and gonioscopy.
  • Provide management plans for existing glaucoma referrals.
  • Provide pre‑operative and post‑operative care to patients.
  • Collaborate with ophthalmologists, optometrists and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to service development initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding glaucoma management and treatment options.

What You’ll Need

  • Medical degree from a recognised university.
  • Valid GMC registration with a licence to practise in the UK.
  • Experience in ophthalmology, particularly in managing glaucoma cases and the ability to work independently.
  • UK NHS glaucoma clinic experience.
  • Gonioscopy experience.
  • SLT laser experience.
  • Excellent diagnostic and clinical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
