We are looking for a Bank Registered Nurse to join our Yorkshire eye hospital. This is bank work built around your diary — you choose the shifts that fit your life, and we give you the training to specialise in eye care.
Why this role stands out
You will follow patients through the whole journey — diagnostics, pre-assessment, surgery day and post-operative care — not one narrow stage of it. You will work alongside consultant ophthalmic surgeons and a supportive multi-disciplinary team in a purpose-built hospital with up-to-date diagnostic and surgical equipment.
Ophthalmology experience is desirable, not essential. If you are an experienced nurse who wants to move into specialist eye care, we will train you.
What you will do
- Deliver nursing care across diagnostic, pre-operative, peri-operative and post-operative pathways
- Carry out pre-operative assessments and diagnostic testing
- Administer medicines and treatments in line with NMC standards
- Give patients and carers clear pre- and post-operative instructions
- Assist with minor operations and support the theatre team
- Provide initial emergency care within your level of competency
- Maintain accurate, legible clinical documentation and follow infection prevention and clinical governance standards
- Mentor and support junior team members
What you will need
- Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration and no restrictions
- Minimum one year post-qualification nursing experience
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to high-quality patient care
- Awareness of the NMC Code of Conduct and the role of the CQC
- Previous experience in Ophthalmology, Theatre, General Surgery or Outpatients
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as this role covers multiple sites (LS23, BD10 and YO26)
- Full right to work in the UK
