As an integral part of a multidisciplinary team working alongside consultants, you will be required to carry out pre‑ and post‑operative consultations, assessing the suitability of patients for treatment. The key responsibilities include:

  • Carry out examinations associated with refractive surgery, cataract and medical retina procedures.
  • Run acute and follow‑up clinics post‑surgery, documenting findings in electronic medical record systems.
  • Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.
  • Provide first‑line clinical advice and refer appropriately to a medical practitioner if necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to safety precautions and correct handling of equipment within the clinical competency framework.
  • Maintain awareness of CQC policies and attend all mandatory update courses.

What You’ll Need:

  • Current GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist.
  • Extensive experience working as an optometrist in a refractive, high‑street or hospital environment.
  • Experience with patient administration and electronic medical record systems.
  • Track record of meeting conversion targets and other KPIs within vision correction.
