We are offering a full‑time role for an experienced Healthcare Technician or HCA (Band 3) with ward or theatre experience, ideally in Ophthalmology, to join our regional team across Birmingham, Uttoxeter, Nottingham, and Leicester. This role requires regular travel between sites and provides fully funded training and development. Pay £32,000 per year (dependent on experience) and reviewed annually.

Role Overview:
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive care to ophthalmic patients across clinical and non‑clinical pathways, ensuring quality patient care across all regional hospitals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high‑quality patient care throughout their visit.
- Perform diagnostic testing: Biometry, OCT, A‑Scan, visual fields, Pentacam, visual acuity, IOP, and topography.
- Support patients on surgery days, providing pre‑ and post‑operative care and effective communication.
- Demonstrate empathy and sensitivity, maintaining a person‑centred approach.
- Provide basic health promotion advice related to ophthalmic surgery.
- Assist in the operating theatre, supporting the entire patient pathway.
- Control cross‑infection by following uniform and IPC policies and maintaining a clean environment.
- Document and report accidents or incidents.
Requirements:
- NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent.
- Experience in a healthcare environment or ophthalmic sector.
- Basic Life Support competent.
- Highly organised, with clear forward planning and ability to flex according to patient needs.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
Location: Birmingham, Uttoxeter, Nottingham, and Leicester – travel required between sites.
