Job Description
Optalis is the Adult Social Care delivery partner on behalf of Wokingham Borough Council and the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead Council. Optalis is owned and funded by the two councils – it is not a private provider or an employment agency.
Support Worker– Tithe Barn SL6Part- & Full-Time Days / Full-Time Nights (maternity cover) – from £12.34
Our teams provide individualised care and support for people with learning disabilities, autistic people and people with physical disabilities living in their community. At Tithe Barn, our 2-bedroom service located on the outskirts of Maidenhead, we support two female customers with moderate to severe learning disabilities. We recognise that each person has unique interests, needs and preferences and support customers to be as self-sufficient as possible, working closely with them and their support networks to help them reach their goals.
We are recruiting for experienced support workers to join our team on either;
- Full-time days (37hpw) – a mix of mornings, afternoons and alternate weekends.
- Part-time days (21hpw) – a mix of mornings, afternoons and alternate weekends.
- Full-time waking nights (37hpw) – up to 4 nights (2200-0700) a week on a maternity cover contract.
Your role will be to support our customers in their day-to-day lives and could include assistance with personal care, managing medication, meal preparation and shopping, and supporting with emotional and physical wellbeing. We also provide support with life skills such as improving confidence, managing finances and being part of the local community to maintain important relationships. The night role will include domestic duties, such as laundry and preparing the service for the following day’s activities, and ensuring the safety and security of the site throughout the night.
At this time, we are only able to consider applications from people who have experience of behaviours that challenge in either a learning disability or mental health care setting. Previous knowledge or training of Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) practices would be beneficial, though PROACT-SCIPr training will be provided for successful candidates.
Due to the location of the service and limited public transport, this role would be best suited for people who can drive and have access to their own transport.
Working for Optalis you will also receive a range of benefits, including:
- A Perkbox rewards package offering discounts on cinema, shopping, health, travel and insurance.
- 25 days annual leave (pro rata) increasing annually to a maximum of 30 days, as well as 8 bank holidays and an extra day off for your birthday.
- An additional health and wellbeing day.
- A comprehensive paid training and development programme.
- Excellent career progression opportunities and support.
- As a valued and integral member of the team you will have a voice in the service and forums to be heard and make a difference
- STAR awards – a reward scheme which recognises staff who have gone the extra mile.
- A generous pension scheme.
We reserve the right to close applications early if this proves a popular role.
