Are you a skilled and proactive Site Assistant looking for your next challenge? Furze Platt Senior School is seeking a dedicated and hands-on Site Assistant to help maintain our school buildings and grounds to the highest standards. This is a key role in ensuring our students and staff have a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment in which to learn and work.
Hours of work: 37 per week, full year with 29 days annual leave plus bank holidays. Usual hours 12pm - 8pm with half an hour unpaid break. Hours during school holidays 8am - 4pm.
About the role:
- Ensure the security of the school site, including, on occasions, being on call for emergencies out of hours.
- Ensure the school is kept safe, tidy and to a good level of aesthetic standard.
- Provide support services to assist in the day to day operation of the School, external lettings and other events.
- Undertake minor maintenance such as installations, renovations, redecoration and reactive maintenance, including keeping fixtures, fittings and furniture in a good state of repair.
- Work with commercial maintenance materials, which require appropriate handling and application. Use equipment such as drills, electric saws etc.
- Undertake physical activities, such as moving furniture and other equipment some of which may be heavy.
- Undertake the delivery of mail and parcels across the School Estate.
- Act as a Fire Warden, following training, participating in emergency drills, ensuring that the correct procedure is followed and if required liaise with the emergency services.
About you:
- Able to undertake minor maintenance activities such as gardening, repairs, painting etc.
- Good organisational skills and ability to communicate confidently, effectively and sensitively at all levels.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Able to take responsibility, be flexible and adaptable with a can-do attitude.
- Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual tasks such as lifting and using ladders.
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- A willingness to acquire specialist knowledge of site management/maintenance and Health & Safety.
