Overview
The Principal Process Engineer provides technical support for printing, coating, converting, and finishing operations.
Essential Functions Performed by the Position
- Collaborates with the production team to reduce defects and spoilage, ensuring robust manufacturing processes and techniques.
- Maintains a manufacturing focus on critical operating parameters that affect product quality and performance.
- Implements operational excellence programs for better communication, troubleshooting, and operational performance.
- Provides daily support to production activities, including monitoring key operating parameters, product quality, and equipment operation.
- Investigates and resolves root causes of customer complaints and other quality issues.
- Designs and conducts experiments (DOE), collects data, and performs data analysis and interpretation using statistical tools (SPC, 6 Sigma, or Excel spreadsheets).
- Presents data with conclusions and further recommendations (design and results).
- Participates in commercialization activities as part of the New Product Development Process for the introduction of new products, including managing the handoff between product development and manufacturing groups.
- Provides manufacturing input during the product development process for new products.
- Manages the process for commercializing maintenance of product changes (MOC) that do not fall under the product development process.
- Generates controlled and technical documentation required to support production, such as job jackets, material specifications, equipment specifications, capacity planning/production reports, or process development reports.
- Develops and manages customer-facing and internal specification documentation.
Position Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering; chemical or mechanical engineering preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 7+ years’ experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Specific experience in printing, coating, or converting industry preferred.
- Experience with operations safety and leading teams is a plus.
- Previous security product manufacturing experience is advantageous.
