OPR’s client is a specialist carpentry and joinery subcontractor delivering high‑quality packages across new‑build residential schemes in London and the South of England. With a strong pipeline of work and continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor with trade‑package experience to join their commercial team. The Role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will support the senior commercial team across the full commercial lifecycle of carpentry and joinery packages, including:
- Preparing cost estimates, budgets, quotations and BOQs for carpentry & joinery packages
- Managing day‑to‑day commercial and subcontract administration
- Procurement of materials, labour and specialist suppliers
- Identifying, pricing and submitting variations
- Preparing and submitting valuations, applications and final accounts
- Reviewing drawings/specifications and assisting in design development
- Assessing subcontractor bids, applications and payment notices
- Producing accurate CVRs, forecasts and cost reports
- Working closely with operations and site teams to ensure strong cost control
- Supporting tendering and pricing for new projects
- Acting as a key commercial point of contact for clients and suppliers
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Proven Quantity Surveying experience within carpentry/joinery, interiors, or residential trade packages
- Strong commercial and numerical skills
- Experience working for a subcontractor or specialist trade contractor
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple live projects
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to read drawings and carry out accurate take‑offs
Desirable
- Experience in new‑build residential developments
- UK-based QS experience
- Strong IT skills (Excel, estimating/measurement tools)
- Ambition to progress into a fully self-sufficient QS role
