Salary: £30,000 - £36,000 per annum DOE with the following benefits:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 1st Line Network Engineer to join a leading IT technology company. In this role, you’ll support the design, implementation, and maintenance of network infrastructure for clients. Your responsibilities will include troubleshooting, system design, configuration, and ongoing support. You’ll also contribute to network planning, testing, and integration to ensure smooth project execution. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1st line network support, including configuration, troubleshooting, and installation of network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS).
- Monitor system performance, availability, and reliability to ensure smooth operation.
- Take ownership of escalated cases, ensuring they are resolved efficiently.
- Perform network maintenance and upgrades, including patches, security configurations, and system updates.
- Assist in capacity planning and resource monitoring.
- Troubleshoot switching technologies (STP, VLANs, VTP) and ensure network stability.
- Work within established change management policies to implement necessary updates while ensuring approval and compliance.
- Support Optical Network troubleshooting, including fibre connections, SFPs, GBICs, and related components.
- Assist in selecting and implementing security policies, tools, and procedures in collaboration with the security team.
- Plan, design, and install networked systems, working closely with customers on configurations and troubleshooting.
- Deliver technology demonstrations and updates to internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop User Acceptance Tests to facilitate client approvals and sign-offs.
- Maintain and document installation procedures for new products and solutions.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience with Fortinet, Cisco, or Juniper WAN & LAN solutions.
- CCNA certification is required.
- Hands-on experience with PRTG and Visio.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for OSPF and BGP WANs.
- Ability to design, plan, and implement network systems (e.g., creating Visio diagrams for simple deployments).
- Based locally with access to personal transport (office presence required 2-3 days per week, with occasional travel to client sites).
