You will become a part of a large group of highly motivated researchers, with a research focus of aerodynamics and aeroacoustics of propellers and bluff bodies. You will make use of a range of mid- and high-fidelity computational tools, including PowerFlow to analyse the aerodynamic and aeroacoustic of propulsion systems and flow interaction with bluff bodies. University of Bristol is home to the UK’s National Aeroacoustic Facility, and by joining the team you will have access to our state-of-the-art experimental and computational facilities. At the University of Bristol, you will become a member of a large group of highly motivated researchers, with a research focus of aerodynamics and aeroacoustics of propellers and bluff bodies. University of Bristol is home to the UK’s National Aeroacoustic Facility, National Boundary Layer Facility, National Pressure Neutral Acoustic Wind tunnel, as well as several large HPCs, and by joining the team you will have access to our state-of-the-art experimental and computational facilities.### What will you be doing? You will be responsible for performing mid- and high-fidelity aerodynamic and aeroacoustic simulations, and analysing the performance of propellers and bluff bodies under different operating conditions. As part of this research, you will be collaborating with several partners. You will be using the National Aeroacoustic Facility and HPC system at the University of Bristol. The results of this research are expected to be published in the fields top journals. The project provides an opportunity to work on a fundamental, but also industrially important problem and collaborate with world-leading academics in the field. You will be able to attend several international conferences to present your results. As well as carrying the research defined in the project to the highest standards, the successful applicant will be expected to work as part of a team and to prepare reports and presentations for project meetings and publications for international journals.### You should apply ifYou:* Have a postgraduate research degree (or equivalent professional qualification) in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering/a subject in a related field **or** you have significant professional experience in the area required* have research experience in computational aerodynamics and aeroacoustics* Have experience of programming in Matlab or using a similar programming language### Additional informationTo find out more about what it's like to work in the Faculty of Engineering, and how the Faculty supports people to achieve their potential, please see our staff blog: Engineering includes me**Contract type: Fixed-term contract until 31/12/2027****Work pattern: Full-time****Grade: J/Pathway 2****Salary: £45,641 - £51,258 per annum****School/Unit: School of Civil, Aerospace and Design Engineering (CADE)**This advert will close at 23:59 UK time on Thursday 19 November 2026For informal queries please contact: Professor of Aerodynamics and Aeroacoustics Mahdi Azarpeyvand, Email: m.azarpeyvand@bristol.ac.uk### Our strategy and missionWe recently launched our strategy to 2030 tying together our mission, vision and values.---### Academic ContactFaculty of Science and Engineering m.azarpeyvand@bristol.ac.uk05/11/2026Last UpdateUniversity of Bristolbristol.ac.uk## Apply for this positionThis application must be completed through the official university portal. #J-18808-Ljbffr
