Currently, 25 million consumer goods brands worldwide with $4 Trillion of revenue do not have knowledge or power to create effective supply chains. Opply is revolutionising the way these brands find, communicate with, and order from suppliers by building the world's first personalised end-to-end supply platform for them. We focus on the most innovative brands and suppliers, aiming to become the leading platform and data authority in consumer goods innovation.

Opply is backed by some of the best-known venture capitalists in the world and is one of the fastest-growing startups in the UK - and is now looking for individuals who are eager to embark on this exciting journey with us!

Who We Are

We’re a close-knit team of 18, working across four time zones (but we do have an office in London), and we meet up 2-3 times a year to work, ideate and hang out (previously we had company offsites in Valencia, Prague, Split and the North of Finland!).

We’re one of the fastest growing startups in London. Now we need extraordinary minds with a strong ownership mindset who want to join us on our mission!

What You'll Be Doing

Opply is at an exciting stage of growth, where your work will directly contribute to our ambitious journey forward.

You will join the Automation Team which is responsible for building features that automate workflows for our users (internal and external).

The roadmap for the Automation Team requires cross-functional skills:

  • Data Engineer (this position)
  • Product Engineer (hired recently)
  • Data Scientist (well-established in the company, deep knowledge of the domain)

As a Senior Data Engineer you are expected to take a prominent role in shaping our solutions and to support orchestrating the work within the Automation Team.

At the moment the main objective for the Automation Team is to build a new feature in our Product to do Automated Leads Generation so that our Operations Team can generate relevant business leads for cold outreach with a click of a button.

A few of the blocks you will be building:

  • Setting up a leads database
  • Creating multiple microservices to find leads online
  • Setting up and monitor how the data flows between services
  • Deploying automated jobs that enrich leads with relevant information
  • Build relevancy scores with mechanisms to learn from human validation

Who You Are

  • 5+ years working with Data in a fast-paced environment: You've been building data pipelines and creating infrastructure from scratch long enough to know what works and what doesn't. You thrive when moving fast and iterating with purpose.
  • You're more than just a Data Engineer: You're curious about automation, user experience, AI integrations, and making things work end-to-end. You love the idea of taking something from zero to value — not just data in, data out.
  • You're a team-first collaborator: You work extremely well with others. You make the two engineers next to you better, and they make you better. You communicate clearly, support the team, and keep momentum high.
  • You're scrappy and resourceful: When something's unclear or not working, you find a way. You're excited by challenges, not discouraged by them. You're relentless in building, fixing, and delivering.
  • You care about users and business impact: You don't just build for the sake of building — you want what you build to matter. You're driven by the real value your work brings to the people who use it.
  • You go the extra mile: When someone needs help, you're there. You understand that speed and collaboration are everything in a small team, and you show up for both.

What The Job Involves

  • Building data pipelines and making sure they run smoothly: You've done this before. From ingestion to monitoring, you care deeply about data quality and reliability.
  • Getting services and infrastructure running on AWS from scratch: You know your way around AWS — not just how to use the services, but how to combine them into real solutions. EC2, S3, Lambda, you name it.
  • Managing infrastructure as code (Terraform): You write infrastructure like you write code — clean, modular, and version-controlled. You've used Terraform in production and know its ins and outs.
  • Contributing to automation products, not just backend pipelines: This team builds automation tools that combine data, AI, and UI. You'll help shape user experiences, hook into models, and build smart tools with real-time impact.
  • Working closely with others to move fast and stay aligned: No silos here. You'll co-own outcomes with teammates, and share wins, learnings, and tough problems together.

What We Offer

  • Equity in one of the fastest-growing startups in London
  • 25 paid holidays a year + local public holidays
  • A nice office in the centre of London
  • Enrolment into the company Pension Scheme
  • Monthly allowance for gym membership etc.
