Job Summary
You will have Commitment, Passion, Drive and Focus.
The primary objective of the Pre-Press Operative is to maintain the flow of the work to the printing presses by ensuring all elements of the job are prepared ready for the printer to use.
The operator works with the printer to maintain the constant turnaround of the press, helping to break down the job on press and clean and file completed jobs
Key Skills
- Good understanding of print, communication skills, good organisational skills.
- Perform pre-press duties in an efficient professional and courteous manner
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and the general public.
- Communicate and liaise verbally and in writing between customers/suppliers/visitors/enquirers and relevant staff, and interpret and respond clearly and effectively to spoken requests over the phone or in person, and to verbal or written instructions.
- Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role.
- Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health & safety procedures.
Responsibilities
- Locating plate bags against job bag.
- QA β checking plates against sample/approved copy.
- Cutting new plates down.
- Mounting plates.
- Building and dismantling cylinders.
- Preparing tint/varnish rollers.
- Getting out materials/laminates/foils.
- Getting out inks/varnishes/adhesives.
- Topping up existing ink mixes.
- Getting out cutters.
- Cleaning plates and returning them to their correct location.
- Returning materials to the warehouse/palletising returns.
- Organising selected plates to be sent for cleaning
- Ensure all procedures are followed.
- To fully participate as a Dept, Site and OPM Group team member.
- To communicate fully with all relevant parties and assist whenever issues arise relating to your specific area of responsibility within the department.
- Weekend work will occasionally be required.
- Cover shift partners holiday when necessary.
- Emptying waste skip.
- Palletising waste ink tubs.
- Monitoring ink stock levels.
- Wrap pallets using pallet wrapper when requested.
- Loading/Unloading deliveries.
