The Social Impact Communications Manager plays a strategic role in curating, connecting and amplifying OPITO’s social impact across the organisation. Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, the role synthesises activity from multiple functions to shape a cohesive, mission-aligned social impact narrative that reflects OPITO’s charitable purpose and strategic priorities. The manager will influence stakeholders to embed impact thinking into programmes, partnerships and initiatives, support teams in articulating outcomes, and translate evidence of impact into insight, storytelling and reporting. The role will facilitate cross-functional collaboration, ensuring social impact is intentionally designed, consistently measured and visibly demonstrated across OPITO’s global footprint.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strong understanding of STEM fields and their societal value, particularly within energy and safety-critical industries.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills, able to translate complex information into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
- Proven experience creating high-quality content including reports, case studies, presentations and marketing collateral.
- Strong ability to influence and engage internal stakeholders, fostering collaboration and shared ownership of social impact across functions.
- Experience curating cross-organisational activity into coherent narratives and insight-led reporting.
- Ability to design and embed practical impact measurement approaches aligned to organisational mission and strategy.
- Experience developing social value / impact and communications strategies, including implementation and outcome reporting.
- Lead on My Energy Future hosted events and represent OPITO at relevant industry events.
- Commercial awareness including budget management, opportunity identification and risk mitigation.
- Manage the My Energy Future brand, website, social media channels and all external communications.
- Manage the My Energy Future Champions programme, including annual recruitment of influencers and promotion of content.
- Develop and maintain a clear organisational narrative for social impact, ensuring consistency across internal and external communications.
- Prepare OPITO’s annual report outlining the organisation’s social impact and alignment to its charitable purpose and strategic objectives.
- Lead and manage the OPITO Global STEM Programme, including the STEM project (HVO) and related budget responsibility.
- Coordinate STEM and social impact activity across global Centres of Excellence, maximise benefit and impact of activities.
- Collate the social impact operational plan, conduct quarterly business reviews and ensure cost-effective delivery of STEM activities.
- Assist in budgeting and financial reporting with the Head of Marketing and Communications.
