Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the department supervisor, the Ophthalmic Technician II plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive ophthalmic care. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting physicians in gathering patient data
- Maintaining a clinical environment
- Conducting visual acuity testing
- Visual field testing
- Lensometry
- Auto refractometry
- Pupil assessment
- Extraocular motility
- External examination
- Applanation tonometry
- Tonopen
- Eye drop instillation
- Diagnostic testing
- Participating in patient care
The technician also maintains patient medical records to ensure an efficient workflow.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, Full Time. No nights or weekends.
Job Requirements
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
COA, COT, COMT, OSC, CRA, or OCT-C certification required.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in ophthalmic patient care with relevant certifications.
Proficiency in ophthalmic procedures including refractometry and tonometry.
Experience troubleshooting eye issues and working with electronic health records.
Knowledge and Skills
Deep knowledge of ophthalmic anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
Strong technical skills with ophthalmic equipment.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and data entry skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
