Job Introduction
You'll provide expert clinical leadership and deliver high-quality care in the diagnosis and management of sexually transmitted infections, including complex cases. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team while also contributing to innovation, teaching and service development. Based at our Loughborough Health Centre, with service locations across Rutland, Market Harborough, Melton Mowbray, and Coalville, this role offers a unique opportunity to provide free, confidential sexual health services to the local community.
Main Responsibilities
- Clinical
- Provide expert diagnosis and management of STIs, including complex GUM cases
- Manage patients requiring PEPSE, PrEP, and HIV pathways
- Deliver consultant-led clinics (booked and walk-in)
- Provide second-line support and advice to clinicians within the service
- Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings
- Support safeguarding of vulnerable adults and young people
- Leadership & Service Development
- Provide clinical leadership across the service
- Contribute to service redesign and pathway development
- Lead or support quality improvement initiatives
- Support innovation in HIV prevention and sexual health delivery
- Contribute to commissioning and strategic discussions
- Governance & Quality
- Participate in clinical governance, audit, and risk management
- Ensure compliance with BASHH, FSRH and NICE guidelines
- Maintain up-to-date evidence-based clinical knowledge
- Support continuous improvement and patient safety initiatives
- Teaching, Training & Research
- Deliver education and supervision to Specialty trainees, GP trainees, Foundation doctors, Nursing teams
- Contribute to formal and informal teaching programmes
- Support STIF training programmes
- Engage in research, audit, and publication activities
The Ideal Candidate
- MBBS (or equivalent)
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Genitourinary Medicine (or within 6 months via CCT/CESR)
- Extensive experience in GUM and STI management
- Strong communication and patient engagement skills
- Proven ability to lead, organise and prioritise workload
- Experience of clinical audit and governance
- Ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams
- Understanding of safeguarding and clinical risk management
- Commitment to CPD and revalidation
- Flexibility to support service needs and ability to travel
