Are you looking for an exciting new opportunity? Park Surgery are looking for a Lead Nurse for 37.5 hours per week.

Main Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Lead GP and allocated Senior Nurse Manager.
  • Provide supervision, support, and advice to frontline staff delivering Nursing services (including Healthcare Assistants, Medical Assistants and Flu Vaccinators).
  • Ensure an effective and practical induction for new members of the Nursing team.
  • Training and development of the Nursing team to ensure that they are competent in all areas of General Practice Nursing.
  • Ensure all formal training and competency sign-offs are well documented and shared with the Practice Manager to keep HR files up to date and compliant with CQC regulations (immunisations for all clinical staff, checking of the levels and documentation).
  • Ongoing mentorship of the Nursing team to support continued development in the form of regular consultation audits and 1:2:1s.
  • Support the Nursing team with revalidations locally at practice level and peer to peer across the organisation.
  • Support the Lead GP/Practice Manager in carrying out the Nursing team appraisals.
  • Work in collaboration with the Practice Management team to deliver on PHE KPIs e.g. Childhood Immunisations, Cervical Screening, Flu Vaccinations, enhanced services and QOF.
  • Ensure CQC compliance standards are met and maintained.
  • Work with the Governance Team to support with internal CQC inspections.
  • Work with the Practice Manager and GP Lead on recruitment and retention of the Nursing team.
  • Liaise with ICB and NHSE Nurse Lead where appropriate around vaccination hesitancy, reportable incidents etc.

Clinical Leadership

  • Work collaboratively with line managers to deal with clinical matters and issues arising as a result of clinical practice.
  • Assist with motivation and development activities of the clinical team creating a positive and learning environment.
  • Work closely with all staff members in the organisation, specifically around clinical development issues.
  • Be actively involved in professional development and maintain a professional profile in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requirements and other bodies RPCS / HCPC.
  • Ensure that the Nursing team adheres to the rules and the code of conduct of the organisation and their professional body.
  • Ensure all Nursing staff have an Appraisal and Personal Development plan with identified training needs discussed and agreed.
  • Identify and develop any training needs within the healthcare setting, including agreed and clear targets.
  • Act as a positive role model for Nurses through the demonstration of strong clinical knowledge.
