We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Nurse to join our team at St Martin’s Hospital, Sulis Ward. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the provision of high‑quality patient care by assessing care needs, developing, implementing, and evaluating care programmes. You will demonstrate the ability to perform all relevant forms of nursing care competently without direct supervision, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety. Additionally, the role involves active participation in teaching, supervision and preceptorship/mentorship of learners and other staff and in the absence of a more senior nurse, the post holder will take charge of the ward.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide and be responsible for the assessment of care needs, and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.
  • Carry out all relevant forms of care competently without direct supervision.
  • Communicate with members of the multidisciplinary team to facilitate continuity of care and promote effective team working.
  • Participate in the teaching, supervision and preceptorship/mentorship of learners and other staff.
  • Take charge of the ward in the absence of a more senior nurse.
  • Work in partnership with the Ward / Department Sister to ensure that the standards of nursing care are met at all times, including assisting the ward / department Sister and the whole team to meet the agreed standards of hospital cleanliness within the work environment.

The Ideal Candidate

Eligibility: you will be an NMC registered Nurse and you will have the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team. You are expected to have strong communication and organisation skills, a flexible approach, and be confident using IT systems. You must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
