The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Operational Manager (Assistant General Manager level) to join the Acute Services division at Health and Care Channel Islands, taking ownership of operational delivery across Medicine. Working in close partnership with the Clinical Lead and senior nursing team, you will take day-to-day operational responsibility for a busy and varied service, currently encompassing the Emergency Department, the Acute Assessment Unit, and specialist medical pathways including sexual health and neurology. There is flexibility around the exact service mix for the right candidate. This is a hands-on, high-impact operational leadership role for someone who thrives on delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day operational ownership of service delivery across designated specialties
- Budget management and waiting list / PTL recovery
- Workforce planning and deployment
- Management of operational escalations
- Delivery of Cost Improvement Programme (CIP) targets
- Risk management and governance
- Service redesign and patient flow improvement
- Business and project planning
About You
- Proven operational management experience at AGM / Band 8A-8B level (or equivalent) within an acute hospital or health system
- A strong track record of delivery against waiting list, budget, and performance targets
- Experience managing frontline workforce deployment and operational escalations
- Comfortable operating within a clinical/managerial triumvirate alongside clinical leads and matrons
- Resilient, adaptable, and motivated by complex operational challenges
