Operation Wallacea is a conservation research organisation working across a range of countries and ecosystems worldwide, who design and implement biodiversity and conservation management research programmes. We are currently recruiting for a volunteer Wildlife Photographer to work at our UK site based at the Knepp Estate in West Sussex.
Positions ideally for several weeks, between 14th June and 8th August, during which you will lead several photography workshops every other week and support the team as a General Ecologist the rest of the time. An interest in wildlife monitoring is needed. Alternatively, we will consider people who can only commit to a single week for the dates of 21st – 27th June, 5th – 11th July, 19th – 25th July and 2nd – 8th August. The position will involve leading workshops on wildlife photography and scientific communication, as well as supporting other surveys if on-site for an extended period, as part of a large-scale monitoring programme across the rewilding site.
Applicants should have extensive wildlife photography experience. You will be working as part of a larger staff team to deliver field courses to people looking to get a head start in ecology and conservation, so any previous teaching experience is valuable.
In return, successful applicants receive full accommodation and food on-site, the chance to take part in at least one safari around the Knepp Estate, networking and skills development, and, of course, the opportunity to contribute towards long-term conservation efforts.
