Operation Wallacea is a conservation research organisation working across a range of countries and ecosystems worldwide, who design and implement biodiversity and conservation management research programmes. We are currently recruiting for a volunteer Lead Habitat Surveyor to work at our UK site based at the Knepp Estate in West Sussex. Positions will ideally be for 3 weeks or more, on dates between 14th June and 8th August, excluding 12th – 18th July.

The position will involve carrying out surveys as part of a large-scale monitoring programme across the rewilding site. Applicants should have extensive field survey experience, including plant ID skills, the use of the Defra metric and UKHab, and a good understanding of Biodiversity Net Gain. You will be working as part of a larger staff team to deliver field courses to people looking to get a head start in ecology and conservation, so any previous teaching experience is valuable.

In return, successful applicants receive full accommodation and food on-site, potential current and future research opportunities, the chance to take part in at least one safari around the Knepp Estate, networking and skills development and of course, the opportunity to contribute towards long-term conservation efforts.
