Operation Wallacea is a conservation research organisation working across a range of countries and ecosystems worldwide, who design and implement biodiversity and conservation management research programmes. We are currently recruiting for a volunteer Lead Ornithologist to work at our UK site based at the Knepp Estate in West Sussex.

Positions will be available for a week or more on dates between 14th June and 18th July; you can find more information on our website. The position will involve conducting several types of bird surveys as part of a large-scale monitoring programme across the rewilding site, with support from an assistant.

Applicants should have extensive survey experience with both point counts and BBS transects, and a ringing permit of C or above. In return, successful applicants receive full accommodation and food on-site, potential current and future research opportunities, the opportunity to take part in at least one safari around the Knepp Estate, networking and skills development, and, of course, the opportunity to contribute towards long-term conservation efforts.
