SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant

We are currently seeking a Team Teach-qualified SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Islington on a long-term basis, starting ASAP.
The successful candidate will provide targeted support to pupils with additional needs, working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider pastoral team to help pupils thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
The role will involve:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN.
- Supporting pupils with their academic, social and emotional development.
- Implementing personalised learning and behaviour support strategies.
- Using positive behaviour management and de-escalation techniques.
- Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and maintaining a calm learning environment.
- Adapting classroom activities and resources to meet individual needs.
- Working closely with teachers and the SENCO to monitor progress and implement support plans.
- Encouraging pupils to develop independence, confidence and positive relationships.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN within a primary school setting.
- Team Teach qualification β essential.
- Experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and/or complex needs.
- A calm, patient and consistent approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
