Horizon Teachers are working with an excellent SEND school based in Hackney who are looking to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant with SEND on a daily cover basis, starting ASAP. This role will involve providing 1:1 support for children between the ages of 3-19 years with Special Educational Needs, helping them access the curriculum and fully engage in school life. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team to ensure the pupil receives the tailored support they need to thrive both academically and socially.

About the Role as a Teaching Assistant:
  • Providing 1:1 support for pupils with SEND supporting their learning and development.
  • Supporting the children to remain engaged and focused during lessons.
  • Assisting the class teacher in adapting learning activities to meet the pupil’s individual needs.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, independence and confidence in the classroom.
  • Supporting the pupil’s emotional and social development throughout the school day.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, staff and other Teaching Assistants to provide consistent support.
The School is Looking for a Teaching Assistant Who:
  • Has experience working with children in a Primary or Secondary School setting.
  • Has experience supporting children with SEND.
  • Is patient, caring and committed to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
  • Is confident supporting learning 1:1 and in small groups.
  • Has strong communication skills and a proactive attitude.
