City Centre Based SEMH Teaching Assistant Supporting Pupils with Social, Emotional & Mental Health Needs (Aged 11–18). We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary-age provision in the heart of the city centre. You will work with pupils aged 11–18 who have EHCPs for Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing consistent, relationship-based support that helps them re-engage with learning and develop emotional resilience.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Delivering 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
- Using holistic nurture approaches to build trust, confidence and emotional safety.
- Applying positive consequence therapy to help pupils understand behaviour, choices and outcomes.
- De-escalating perceived challenging behaviour.
- Supporting pupils to regulate emotions, manage transitions and access learning.
- Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams and external professionals.
- Contributing to personalised strategies outlined in each pupil’s EHCP.
