We are looking for a Production Engineer (Mechanical bias) with a high level of attention to detail and experience of working in a production environment to join the growing OpenWorks Engineering team. OpenWorks is a rapidly growing business operating globally with a passion for exceptional engineering and building on a legacy of defence innovation in the North East of England. Our products provide ultra-high performance, real-time detection, tracking, identification and targeting of dynamic aerial threats. What you’ll be doing
- Identifying opportunities to improve production build efficiency.
- Create and maintain build processes and procedures.
- Investigate production yield, scrap and rework trends.
- Solve problems found in production by carrying out root-cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Providing hands-on support to production technicians during build, test and fault-finding activities.
- Be the SME (Subject Matter Expert) for your discipline and deliver training to production technicians where required.
- Define, develop and support production with in-line validation activities for new assemblies.
- Design of jigs/fixtures to aid build and test activities.
- Source, commission and develop plans for production FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) equipment.
- Supporting NPI (New Product Introduction) from design through to volume manufacture.
- Contributing to DFA (Design for Assembly) activities.
- Support prototype builds.
- Develop production-ready documentation.
What we’re looking for
- Electrical bias.
- The ability to read electronic circuit diagrams.
- Excellent understanding of PCBA’s and components.
- Experience of IPC standards.
- Experience using electronic test equipment (e.g. multi-meter, oscilloscope).
- Knowledge of serial communication standards (e.g. RS232, RS422, CAN).
