9‑month Fixed Term Contract | Hybrid (3 days office-based)

In this senior leadership role, you will take strategic and operational ownership of the Openwork Business School (OBS) Advice training portfolio. You’ll lead the design and delivery of market‑leading learning programmes that support adviser competence, regulatory readiness and professional excellence — helping Openwork achieve its ambition to be recognised as a UK leader in developing financial advice professionals.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • You’ll provide visible, credible leadership across technical and advice skills training, combining strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery.
  • Key responsibilities include:
  • Designing, developing and continuously improving adviser‑focused learning interventions across the Partnership, including:
  • Adviser licensing
  • IT capability
  • Project management skills
  • Wider advice and technical training
  • Ensuring OBS remains aligned with evolving regulatory requirements across regulated advice, mortgage and wealth businesses.
  • Line‑managing technical and advice skills training managers, providing strong leadership, coaching and development, and ensuring effective cross‑cover and day‑to‑day delivery.
  • Reviewing and enhancing learning interventions to ensure quality, relevance and alignment with business demand.
  • Project‑managing new programme developments, including digital learning initiatives and structured learning pathways.
  • Building strong, trusted relationships with senior leaders across the Partnership to understand business challenges and translate them into effective learning solutions.
  • Representing OBS internally and externally at conferences, industry events and peer forums.
  • Managing delegated non‑pay budgets, ensuring value for money and effective resourcing.
  • Providing clear monthly progress reporting aligned to agreed strategic objectives.
  • Working collaboratively to plan and publish the annual advice training delivery programme.
  • Helping shape the future of learning at Openwork, including contributing to the development of internal accreditation programmes and learning effectiveness frameworks.
  • What will you need to succeed?

    We’re looking for a confident, credible leader with a strong blend of regulatory knowledge, learning expertise and stakeholder influence. You’ll bring:

    • Level 4 diploma in financial planning (advantageous)
    • Experience in an L&D role
    • In‑depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks within a regulated advice, mortgage or wealth environment.
    • Membership of a relevant professional body.
    • A strong understanding of learning and development in a professional services or partnership‑based environment.
    • Proven experience operating across networks or member‑firm models, balancing central strategy with local delivery.
    • Confidence as a public speaker, with the ability to represent the business internally and externally.
