About AI training work

AI training (data labeling/annotation) is how modern models learn from examples prepared and reviewed by people. This role focuses on creating high‑quality text data and expert evaluations that shape how advanced generative systems reason about business problems and deliver strategic recommendations.

The role

OpenTrain is recruiting a UK‑based, senior management consulting expert to develop and review consulting engagement scenarios for frontier AI systems. You will create realistic casework, evaluate strategic communications, and simulate partner‑led team interactions.

Position type: Contractor, part‑time

Work location: Remote (UK‑based candidates preferred)

Time expectation: 20+ hours/week; applicants must be able to commit 40 hours/week.

What you'll do

  • You will design, simulate, and rate consulting scenarios that train generative models and evaluation systems.
  • Tasks focus on problem structuring, hypothesis development, case analysis, and high‑quality executive communication.
  • Create and review consulting engagement scenarios for AI training.
  • Simulate realistic casework including problem structuring and hypothesis development.
  • Evaluate case analyses, client presentations, executive communication, and strategic recommendations.
  • Apply practical knowledge of consulting team structures and engagement flow.

Requirements

  • Candidates must have senior consulting experience and a strong strategy background.
  • Work is text‑focused and combines generation and evaluation tasks, so clear written judgment and business judgment are essential.
  • Senior consulting background: consultant, senior consultant, engagement manager, project leader, principal, associate partner, partner, or MD.
  • Strong strategy consulting experience—ideally from McKinsey, BCG, Bain, or similar firms.
  • Understanding of partner‑led engagements across strategy, due diligence, and transformation.
  • Ability to work remotely and commit 40 hours per week.
  • Fluency in English.

Helpful background

  • Experience with high‑quality training data, expert review work, or business case simulation is beneficial but not required.
  • Familiarity with decision support and realistic business‑case exercises will help you excel.
  • Experience creating or reviewing consulting case scenarios.
  • Background in strategy consulting, due diligence, or transformation work.
  • Prior involvement in generating or rating training data is a plus.
