OpenText is seeking an Export Compliance Analyst to join its Global Trade Compliance team based in one of our major EU or UK office locations. This is a diverse role that includes serving as a resource for internal organizations, facilitating OpenText’s business (including product development, sales and operations) by helping to ensure compliance with U.S., Canadian, UK and EU export regulations and sanctions and providing guidance on export issues, assisting in the mitigation of risks and monitoring developments in export regulations, review of ongoing sales activity, and maintenance of OpenText’s export records.
What you will do:
- Perform a variety of routine Global Trade tasks, owning workload, producing high quality work, building on and applying knowledge, and making decisions based on policies, procedures and guidance from manager and senior team members.
- Review contracts and proposed deals and perform real time detection to ensure compliance and mitigate trade compliance risks in line with Service Level Agreements.
- Work with Sales Operations and other teams, advise on compliance and assess potential impact of future regulations.
- Keep up to date with the latest developments in Global (particularly US and EU) Trade Compliance.
- Assist with day-to-day regional import/export compliance licensing and reporting and participate in internal risk assessments.
- Collaborate with the broader sales operations team and internal stakeholders to create a seamless, efficient end-to-end process and perform work in-line with established Service Level Agreements with internal organizations.
- Advise and assist enquiries from global business team to ensure consistent interpretation of company policy.
- Assist with general compliance and special projects on an ad-hoc basis, including evaluating, designing and implementing internal controls.
- Contribute to team goals and report on progress towards operational metrics/KPIs.
What it takes:
- University educated (preferably in international policy / international business / law / or a technology discipline) or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years previous experience in international trade compliance, including experience with denied party/restricted party screening.
- Fluency in the English language (mandatory).
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to lead meetings and interact with difficult stakeholders.
- Intermediate knowledge and application of Global Trade Compliance (e.g. US Export Administration Regulations / OFAC Sanctions) and importing / exporting regimes.
- Experience in a Global Technology or Software Company preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly Word, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Ability to advise business stakeholders globally on risks across the business and strategies for mitigation.
- Experience across multiple areas of the sales process is an advantage.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with product classification in category 5 part 2.
- Solid understanding of US BIS and OFAC sanctions.
- Experience with US CCATS (or other jurisdiction classification request) submissions.
- Experience applying for export licenses.
- Knowledge of software industry or technical skills.
