About the Role
OpenTeams is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Senior Solution Architect or Senior Solution Engineer (Sales) to join our growing team. In this pivotal role you will partner with our General Manager of a line of business as a trusted advisor to our clients, leading conversations around the ideation, design, and implementation of complex, largeâscale, openâsource AI solutions. You will translate business requirements into technical architectures and guide the selection of development teams. Ideally you will lead the technical direction of projects from inception to successful delivery, shaping the future of AI adoption across diverse organizations while contributing to the vibrant openâsource community.
This is a remote position. Candidates must live in the UK or a surrounding country that has a ±2âhour time difference from the UK. We do not accept USâbased candidates and do not support relocation. Travel is expected to be around 25% of the time within the EMEA region for conferences, customer meetings, and community events.
What You'll Do
- Client Engagement: Serve as primary technical contact, understanding business challenges, identifying AI opportunities, and communicating concepts to technical and nonâtechnical stakeholders.
- PreâSales Support: Collaborate with sales and business development to articulate capabilities, present solutions, and contribute to proposals and statements of work.
- Solution Leadership: Lead endâtoâend architectural design and technical strategy for complex openâsource AI solutions from concept to deployment and optimization.
- Technical Advisory: Recommend openâsource frameworks, libraries, and platforms (e.g., PyTorch, JAX, Kubeflow, Ray, MCP, LLMs).
- Architecture Definition: Develop comprehensive blueprints covering data pipelines, model training and deployment, MLOps practices, security, and integration patterns.
- Thought Leadership: Contribute to technical blogs, whitepapers, and presentations; represent OpenTeams at conferences and events.
- Community Engagement: Actively participate in relevant openâsource AI & ML communities.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Travel & Event Attendance: Anticipate an average of one week per month in travel, with variability linked to project needs.
What We're Looking For
- Open Source Expertise: Deep practical experience with AI/ML frameworks, libraries, and tools.
- Software Engineering: Strong background in principles, design patterns, and best practices; proficiency in Python is essential.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills, able to articulate complex concepts clearly.
- ProblemâSolving: Proven ability to analyse complex technical problems and drive innovative solutions to implementation.
- Leadership: Strong mentoring, interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with crossâfunctional teams.
- Technical Experience: Deep expertise in at least one core area (e.g., numerical computing, distributed computing, cloud, data science, MLOps, LLMs) and a sound understanding of others.
- Willingness to Travel: Expectation of 25% travel within EMEA for client and community engagement.
